East Jordan Co. signed an agreement in June 2023 with the National Petroleum Company (NPC) in Jordan to launch operations in the Risha Gas Field, supporting the development and expansion of the country’s natural gas sector.
Since 1989, the NPC has been utilizing the Risha Gas Field — located in Al Ruwayshid, Al Mafraq, North East Jordan — primarily for electricity-related services. As part of its expansion strategy, NPC is working to raise the production capacity of several wells. This move aims to stimulate natural gas consumption across various sectors and industries through the development of a natural gas pipeline extending from Ruwayshid to Amman. This initiative is expected to strengthen Jordan’s energy resources and increase its supply to the national economy.
East Jordan Co., through its operating partner Unigaz Jordan, has secured approval to implement strategic operations in the Risha Field. Under the leadership of East Jordan Co., the project involves converting natural gas from the Risha Field into liquefied natural gas (LNG) at its liquefication plant, and distributing it to large industries and selected customers.
This project marks a significant advancement in Jordan’s commitment to clean energy and sustainable economic growth. By increasing the supply of natural gas and encouraging its usage across industries, East Jordan Co. is contributing to reducing Jordan’s carbon footprint while supporting the country's energy transition goals.
Additionally, East Jordan Co., through Unigaz Jordan’s operations, is establishing an LPG terminal and storage facility in Aqaba. The LPG will be transported from Aqaba to Amman, enabling wider access to a reliable and consistent supply of clean energy for communities across Jordan.
